Project Starhawk, also known as the Starhawk project, was a New Republic starship project to develop the Starhawk-class battleship. The Starhawk was a prototype of the class developed by the project.^[1]^[2]

History

Seeking to accelerate the end of the Galactic Civil War, the New Republic commissioned the development of a new class of battleship to outmatch the Empire’s Star Destroyers. Utilizing salvaged hulls from captured Imperial vessels, engineers at the Nadiri Dockyards constructed the Starhawk-class battleship—an advanced warship featuring reinforced armor, enhanced weaponry, and superior shielding. Its distinctive hatchet-shaped bow housed a powerful tractor beam array, capable of seizing and immobilizing even fully operational Star Destroyers. The creation of such a formidable vessel raised concerns among some observers, who questioned whether the New Republic was beginning to mirror the authoritarian methods of the Empire it sought to replace.^[5]
