- "Jar Jar, what are you doing?"
"Oops! Sorry, mesa fix it." - ―Mack and Jar Jar Binks
Mack was a clone trooper pilot who fought for the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars against the Confederacy of Independent Systems. The pilot was part of the diplomatic service within the Coruscant Guard. In 21 BBY, Mack and a fellow clone pilot were tasked with bringing a diplomatic party to the planet Florrum to negotiate a ransom for the Separatist leader Count Dooku as well as two captured Jedi, Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Arriving at Florrum, members of the Ohnaka Gang shot down their shuttle, killing Mack, the other pilot, and Senator Kharrus.
Biography
Flying to Florrum
Mack piloted a Republic diplomatic party to Florrum.
Mack was a clone trooper[3] who was created on the planet Kamino as a clone of the bounty hunter Jango Fett to fight for the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars against the Confederacy of Independent Systems.[1] Mack served in the Republic Navy, as well as in the Coruscant Guard's diplomatic service, as a clone trooper pilot.[3]
In 21 BBY,[2] Mack and another clone piloted a Nu-class attack/transport shuttle that carried Senator Kharrus, Junior Representative Jar Jar Binks, and a squad of clone troopers on a diplomatic mission to the planet Florrum. Their goal was to negotiate a ransom for the Separatist leader Count Dooku as well as the Jedi Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, all of whom had been imprisoned by pirates of the Ohnaka Gang.[3]
Pirate attack
- "Missile closing, bank left!"
- ―Mack, to their co-pilot
Jar-Jar unintentionally interfered with Mack during the pirate attack.
As they entered Florrum's atmosphere, the shuttle Mack was piloting was attacked by a group of rogue pirates, led by the Weequay Turk Falso, in a Flarestar-class attack shuttle. As the pirate vessel opened fire, Mack's co-pilot engaged in evasive maneuvers. When the pirates fired a pair of missiles, Mack directed the co-pilot to bank left. As the ship attempted to evade the attack, Binks, who had clumsily been unable to secure himself in the hold and was stumbling around the ship, activated the mechanism that brought Mack's seat down and out of the cockpit. A bewildered Mack watched as Binks awkwardly attempted to send Mack back into the cockpit, but only succeeded in bringing up the chair with both of them in it. Meanwhile, the ship was hit by the missiles and began to plummet.[3]
After Binks managed to get back to the hold, Mack and the co-pilot were forced to crash-land in the Doshar fields. The impact killed Mack, the co-pilot, and Kharrus. As the survivors of the crash regrouped, a clone trooper discovered Mack's body as well as the co-pilot's, alerting Clone Commander Stone that they had perished. The remaining clones continued their mission, led by Binks, who was technically the highest-ranking survivor. They progressed towards Ohnaka's base, and eventually, the two Jedi were rescued.[3]
Personality and traits
As a human clone of Jango Fett, Mack was 1.83 meters (6 feet) tall,[1] weighed eighty kilograms,[4] and had tan skin.[1]
Equipment
Mack wore clone pilot armor that was white, though the helmet had yellow markings and a red Republic crest on either side.[3] They had a behavioral modification biochip implanted in their brain by Kaminoan scientists at birth to ensure that they would be complicit in certain orders, as did all clone troopers.[1]
Behind the scenes
Mack first appeared in "The Gungan General,"[3] the twelfth episode in the first season of the animated television series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which premiered on January 9, 2009.[5]
