"War. I'm tired of war."
―Corwin Ballast, after the battle of Mordal — 20?cb=20250116042720 ▶️ (file info)[1]

Maborn was a city on the Outer Rim world Mordal. During the Galactic Civil War, in 4 ABY, a firefight in Maborn took place between the Galactic Empire and the Alliance to Restore the Republic. The civilian Corwin Ballast became trapped between the warring sides with his wife, Lynnta, and their daughter, the latter two of whom perished from indiscriminate blaster fire.

Description

The city Maborn was located on the terrestrial[1] Outer Rim[2] world Mordal by the time of the Imperial Era. The city had streets and several structures.[1]

History

Maborn was the hometown of the civilian Corwin Ballast, who resided there with his wife Lynnta and young daughter by the Imperial Era. The city came under contention between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance during the Galactic Civil War.[1] In 4 ABY,[3] during a firefight in Maborn, the warring sides entrenched themselves on opposite sides of the city. When Ballast's daughter became immobilized in a street between the combatants, her parents were prompted to leave their hiding spot to make a rescue attempt. However, before they could reach their child, Ballast and his wife were injured by blaster fire from both Imperial and rebel forces.[1]

The incident in Maborn ended without a decisive victor, with both sides ceasing their hostilities at some point. Ballast recovered from his injuries, and upon learning Lynnta and his daughter had died and been buried, decided to depart Mordal to travel to[1] the Inner Rim planet[4] Jakku, a place he felt war would not come to. While conversing with the bartender Pok on Jakku, Ballast thought about his family's deaths in Maborn, reliving the firefight mentally.[1]

Behind the scenes

Maborn appeared in flashbacks in Aftermath, a 2015 novel written by Chuck Wendig as the first installment in Star Wars: The Aftermath Trilogy.[1]
