Lufta Shif was a Human female who served as the Education Regent in the Naboo Royal Advisory Council under Queen Amidala's rule.
Biography
The Galactic Republic affiliated Lufta Shif[2] was a Human female native to[1] the planet[2] Naboo.[1] She trained and worked as a teacher and was soon elevated to a position at the capital city Theed's eponymous university.[3] She became the obvious candidate for the role of Education Regent,[2] a role on the Naboo Royal Advisory Council which spoke for all instructors,[4] after an illustrious career in Theed.[2] Shif was able to serve during Queen Amidala's reign of Naboo.[1] Knowing she was a teacher, Amidala listened to and respected Shif's opinions.[2]
As Education Regent, Shif had the ultimate authority of educational concerns on Naboo, ranging from the smallest village nursery to the university she had once worked at. With the large amount of responsibility she had, Shif chose to concern herself with policy and large-scale reforms and not to work hands-on. She was also able to make sure enough of the Naboo royal budget was allocated to education.[2]
In 32 BBY,[5] Shif was one of Queen Amidala's advisors gathered in the Theed Royal Palace's throne room when the Trade Federation launched their invasion of Naboo.[6]
During the invasion, Shif mingled with young people in prison camps in an attempt to keep their spirits up. and was able to get classes running. Shif using her inspirational skills was both a defiance of the Trade Federation, and an act of kindness to the children who needed a return to their normal lives and routines. Through her actions, she proved the importance and power of education[2]
Personality and traits
The Education Regent was widely admired for her ability to inspire students. During the Invasion of Naboo, her work in prison camps were acts of kindness to the children there, and a defiance against the Trade Federation.[2] Shif had light skin and blonde hair worn up.[1]

Shif had inspirational skills she was admired for. She was able to prove these skills during the Invasion of Naboo.[2]
Equipment
Shif garbed herself in the traditional teaching robes of the Naboo. The gentle and flowing robes reflected the Naboo belief that learning is best encouraged by inspiration rather than threats of violence. She also wore a necklace symbolic of her role as education regent.[2] Shif wore both clothing items during the Invasion of Naboo[6] in 32 BBY.[5]
