The lightspear was a type of weapon that utilized a kyber crystal. At one point, a Sith individual owned a lightspear, incorporating into it a blood-red kyber crystal that had pain and rage instilled in it. Long afterward,[1] at some point by 232 BBY,[2] Jedi Master Jora Malli retrieved the ancient lightspear and, chiefly as an intellectual exercise, performed the purification ritual on the weapon's kyber crystal, turning it bright white in the process. Malli then went on to use the crystal in her own lightsaber.[1]

Behind the scenes

The lightspear was mentioned in the 2021 novel Light of the Jedi, written by Charles Soule as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase I.[3]
