Lassos were lengths of rope or cable used to subdue enraged animals by looping them around the creatures' necks. During the High Republic Era, the Duros Jedi Knight Te'Ami saw them used at a rodeo on the planet Chandar's Folly, where many of the would-be riders were instead tossed several meters into the air to land on the ground. Later, while attempting to save a modular passenger compartment full of people during the Great Hyperspace Disaster, Te'Ami compared the move she and several other Jedi were attempting with the Force to slow down the compartment to the use of a lasso.^[1]

During the Imperial Era, the Dark Lord of the Sith and the Galactic Emperor of the Galactic Empire Darth Sidious use the Sith alchemy to attempt to open a portal to the World Between Worlds where Ahsoka Tano and Ezra Bridger were. As he caught him with the fiery lasso on Bridger's leg and pulled him so he could get through the portal. But before he get through to enter the realm, Tano cut the lasso to return back to the same place. As the Emperor tried again, but Ezra and Ahsoka made it back to their world to his fury as he had failed to enter to the realm.^[2]
