A female individual lived on[2] the Outer Rim[3] world[4] Chagar IX where they fought in the world's fighting pits. They—along with a male individual—raised a[2] human[5] son named Kreel.[2] By 0 ABY,[1] Kreel's mother had been killed in the fighting pits.[2]

That year,[1] as Kreel—by then the leader of the elite Imperial stormtrooper unit Task Force 99fought against rebels on the Ghost Moon,[2] he[5] mentally reflected on his life. He recalled his mother's passing and noted his belief he had been destined to die like his mother in the fighting pits of Chagar IX until stormtroopers of[2] the 501st Legion[6] arrived and shut down the arenas.[2]

Behind the scenes

Kreel's mother was mentioned in the twenty-first issue of the 2015 comic series Star Wars. The issue was written by Jason Aaron and published by Marvel Comics[2] on July 20, 2016.[7]

  1. 1.0 1.1 1.2 Star Wars: Timelines dates the events of Star Wars (2015) 19 and Star Wars (2015) 22 to 0 ABY. As the events of Star Wars (2015) 21 take place between the two issues, they must also take place in 0 ABY. Star Wars (2015) 21 establishes that Kreel's mother had died on Chagar IX before its events, therefore meaning they must have passed away by that year.
