A male individual lived on[2] the Outer Rim[3] world[4] Chagar IX. They—along with a female individual—raised a[2] human[5] son named Kreel. Kreel's father was a fighter in the fighting pits on Chagar IX.[2] By 0 ABY,[1] when Kreel was six years old,[2] his[5] father was killed in the pits in front of him.[2]

That year,[1] while fighting rebels on the Ghost Moon, Kreel—by then the leader of the elite Imperial stormtrooper unit Task Force 99—mentally reflected on his life, recalling his father's passing in the fighting pits, noting he had no tears left to cry for his father. Kreel admitted he felt that he had been destined to die in Chagar IX's pits like his father until stormtroopers of[2] the 501st Legion[6] arrived and shut down the arenas.[2]

Behind the scenes

Kreel's father was mentioned in the twenty-first issue of the 2015 comic series Star Wars. The issue was written by Jason Aaron and published by Marvel Comics[2] on July 20, 2016.[7]

  1. 1.0 1.1 1.2 Star Wars: Timelines dates the events of Star Wars (2015) 19 and Star Wars (2015) 22 to 0 ABY. As the events of Star Wars (2015) 21 take place between the two issues, they must also take place in 0 ABY. Star Wars (2015) 21 establishes that Kreel's father had died on Chagar IX before its events, therefore meaning they must have passed away by that year.
