"Take Rio and those four mudskulls and flank them on the left. I'll take this mouthy scooch and Korso around to the right. Maybe we'll get lucky."
―Tobias Beckett to Val[3]

Korso was a human[3] male criminal who provided muscle for Tobias Beckett's gang. He helped Beckett to infiltrate the Imperial Army fighting on Mimban and steal an Y-45 armored transport hauler for a heist on Vandor in exchange for passage off the planet.[2] On Mimban Korso wore Imperial swamp trooper armor, an Imperial fleet trooper helmet, and an Imperial officer greatcoat and used a Z-6 rotary blaster cannon. During a battle, Korso was present in a trench next to his team members Val, Beckett and Rio Durant. While Beckett—who was disguised as an Imperial Army captain—was speaking to his crew, the corporal Han Solo informed him that he was now the highest commanding officer on site after the major Staz had been killed by a missile minutes earlier. Beckett then led the Imperial soldiers in a charge forward.[3] During the fight, Korso was attacked by a Mimbanese man and was grappling on the ground with them, when they were both shot by a different soldier. Solo and Beckett were able to drag Korso's body in a trench, but he was already dead.[2] His place on the team for the heist was eventually replaced by Solo and the former enslaved Wookiee Chewbacca.[3]

Behind the scenes

Korso was played by New Zealand actor John Tui in the 2018 Star Wars Anthology film Solo: A Star Wars Story.[3] According to screenwriter Jon Kasdan, Tui's performance was great, but given the hectic environment of the scene, it became confusing to introduce Korso as he was going to immediately get killed off. The sequence of Korso's death is featured in the film's Deleted Scenes. The character's original logic, as a larger man, was that Beckett's gang had lost their muscle and Beckett saw Chewbacca as a useful replacement.[4] An early version of the Solo script had Korso as Lando Calrissian's older brother.[5]
