Kemp was a scientist who proposed a theory of conversion[1] by 230 BBY.[2] After Avon Starros was kidnapped by Kara Xoo's Tempest of the Nihil pirates and forced to work as an assistant to Dr. Zadina Mkampa, an amoral scientist who was constructing a groundquake machine on the planet Dalna, she asked to see the other children who had been abducted alongside her, Krylind, Liam, and Petri, planning to recruit them to help her stop the Nihil. When Mkampa asked why the girl she knew as "Avon Sunvale" wanted to see them, as they were nowhere near Starros' level of intellect, Starros claimed that she had been mocked by them while trying to explain Kemp's theory, and she wanted them to know how well she was doing.[1]
