"A Selonian compatriot of mine at the Lerct Historical Institute, Professor Kavuss Boh, was only able to access higher education after the New Republic had come to power."
―Beaumont Kin, The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire[1]

Kavuss Boh was a Selonian professor at the Lerct Historical Institute during the New Republic Era. As a student on the planet Talus during the Imperial Era, Boh's academic transcript was altered as part of xenophobic education policies that portrayed non-humans as inferior, and thus she could only access higher education after the New Republic was established.

Biography

"[Boh] later discovered that her Imperial academic transcripts had been repeatedly altered by algorithm to drag down her test scores while comments were attached to them instructing that anyone who requested references for her should be told that she 'was simply unable to compete with her human peers.'"
―Beaumont Kin, The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire[1]

During the Imperial Era, the Selonian Kavuss Boh attended an educational institution on the planet Talus in the Core Worlds' Corellia system. Due to xenophobic measures put in place by Ili P'tan, Talus's governor in the Galactic Empire, non-human students were segregated and had their grades manipulated to portray them as inferior to their human counterparts. Unknown to Boh, her academic transcript was altered by an algorithm to lower her test scores, with attached comments instructing that anyone who requested her references should be informed she was unable to keep up with her human peers.[1]

As a result, Boh was unable to access higher education until after the fall of the Empire and rise of the New Republic[1] in 5 ABY.[2] During the time of the New Republic, Boh discovered the manipulation of her Imperial transcript. A file on Boh, including an alteration recommendation, was stored in the "Education" section of the Talus Archives.[1] By 34 ABY,[3] the Selonian had become a professor at the Lerct Historical Institute on the[1] astronomical object[4] Lerct and was a compatriot of the historian Beaumont Kin, who eventually learned of her situation and viewed her file.[1] In 35 ABY,[5] Kin mentioned Boh and her predicament in[1] his[4] book The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire when discussing the Empire's discrimination against non-humans.[1]

Behind the scenes

Kavuss Boh was mentioned in the 2024 reference book Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire, written by Dr. Chris Kempshall.[1]
