Karran beetles were a non-sentient insectoid species that were native to the planet of Karra. They used their large mandibles as weapons, and could do great damage to living flesh. The Karrans themselves learned how to control the beetles, and used them in battle against their enemies. Basilisk war droids were said to look like a mechanical cross between a Zalorian rock-lion and a Karran beetle.[2]
