- "Sure beats dry-rations, eh, Wedge?"
"I am obliged to point out that it is normally customary to eat Kanali Wafers one at a time, Lt. Celchu…" - ―Tycho Celchu and Poe
Kanali Wafers were a type of Human-edible sugary pentagonal beige pastry whose ingredients included fruit and carbosyrup. The wafers were pressed flat and were served chilled.[2] Around seven months after the Battle of Endor[3] of 4 ABY,[4] while on the planet Eiattu 6, Rogue Squadron lieutenant Tycho Celchu ate some Kanali Wafers, enjoying them but going against the custom by eating multiple at a time, which the protocol droid Poe pointed out to him. Celchu apologized and noted that he was not accustomed to eating what he considered "real food" as he was used to dry-rations instead.[1]
Behind the scenes
Kanali Wafers first appeared in the thirteenth issue of the Star Wars: X-Wing Rogue Squadron comic series, which was written by Michael A. Stackpole and Scott Tolson, illustrated by John Nadeau, and published by Dark Horse Comics[1] on November 27, 1996.[5] They later appeared as a craftable item in the 2003 Sony Online Entertainment massively multiplayer online role-playing game Star Wars Galaxies,[2] which closed in 2011.[6] In the game, the player would receive boosted attributes after eating the dish.[2]
