- "I have to get Dee-Twelve back, Rooper. We can't afford a new droid, and the farm will be ruined without him."
- ―Jerlyn, to Rooper Nitani
A farm was owned by the family of Jerlyn, a resident of Peka village on[1] the Outer Rim[2] world Batuu. Jerlyn and the family's droid, Dee-Twelve, both worked on the farm. One night,[1] around 379 BBY,[3] Jeryln forgot to lock up the farm while Dee-Twelve stayed out late to plow the farm's far field to prepare it for planting the next morning. That night, Dee-Twelve was taken by a salmaca creature that had been raiding Peka for several weeks for valuables and junk to line its nest.[1]
The next day, Jedi Padawan Rooper Nitani arrived in Peka during her Jedi Trials and spoke with Jerlyn, who mentioned the farm while telling her about the salmaca raids. Jeryln blamed himself for Dee-Twelve being taken and was distressed, partially because he believed the farm would be ruined without the droid, as his family could not afford a new one to perform the important work Dee-Twelve did. Nitani then agreed to recover Dee-Twelve, and was successful.[1]
Behind the scenes
Jerlyn's family's farm was mentioned in the short story "Shield of the Jedi," written by George Mann and published in the 2023 young-adult anthology The High Republic: Tales of Light and Life as a part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project.[1]
