- "I think I've just found out what they're hiding down here. This place isn't a fortress. It's a tomb."
- ―Obi-Wan Kenobi
The Jedi tomb was located inside Fortress Inquisitorius. While rescuing Leia Organa, Obi-Wan Kenobi encountered the tombs.[1]
The tomb held the corpses of numerous Jedi slain in the Great Jedi Purge, from Jedi Masters such as Pablo-Jill and Tera Sinube, to even younglings killed in the siege of the Jedi Temple.[1][2]
The corpses were openly displayed in a hallway in the depths of the Fortress, kept petrified in blocks[1] of crystallized amber.[3] Similar methods of storing Jedi remains would be used elsewhere by the Inquisitorius, such as with Luminara Unduli at the Spire on Stygeon Prime.[4] The hallway was secured behind two sets of blast doors emblazoned with red pairs of Imperial crests, accessible through use of code cylinders.[1]
In 9 BBY,[5] while sneaking through the Fortress in search of where Leia Organa was being held, Obi-Wan Kenobi stumbled upon the hallway of dead Jedi. Deeply unsettled, Kenobi informed his ally Tala Durith over comlinks of the tomb's existence, going as far as to call the Fortress Inquisitorius in its entirety a tomb.[1]
