Captain Jayfon was a Human male who led a group of Senate Commandos against a team of bounty hunters led by the Duros Cad Bane when the bounty hunters attempted to raid the Republic Executive Building on Coruscant in 21 BBY.

After Bane landed at the Executive Building's restricted landing platform without permission, Jayfon and a squad of guards ordered Bane to surrender. When the captain ordered one of his subordinates to handcuff Bane, the bounty hunter Aurra Sing opened fire on the guards. Bane himself attacked Jayfon, snapping his neck and killing him. The rest of the guards were also eliminated.

The Human male Jayfon was a captain of the Senate Commandos,^[4] a special unit of the Galactic Republic Senate Guard,^[3] in 21 BBY.^[1] After the Hutt crime lord Ziro Desilijic Tiure was arrested by the Republic for his participation in a plot to seize control of the criminal empire of his nephew, Jabba Desilijic Tiure,^[5] the bounty hunter Cad Bane was hired to free Ziro from the Republic Judiciary Central Detention Center on Coruscant. Along with a team of hunters, Bane set down on a restricted landing platform of Coruscant's Republic Executive Building without permission in order to capture senators and force Supreme Chancellor Palpatine to release Ziro.^[2]

As Bane disembarked his vehicle, Jayfon and several other Senate Commandos confronted the bounty hunter, and the captain ordered Bane to surrender. After Bane replied that he had business with the Galactic Senate and ordered the guards to step aside, Jayfon told the bounty hunter to drop to his knees, and one of the guards was sent to handcuff Bane.^[2]

However, the bounty hunter Aurra Sing opened fire on the guards with her sniper rifle, and Bane attacked the captain^[2]—although Jayfon and his men had been prepared for a fight, they were taken by surprise.^[6] Pressing the guard against a vehicle, Bane grabbed Jayfon's head and snapped his neck, killing him. The other Senate Commandos were dispatched by the other bounty hunters, and Bane ordered the BX-series droid commandos of his team to put on the uniforms of the deceased soldiers to make it look as though the commandos were still at their post.^[2]

Although the no-nonsense Jayfon^[3] was a well-trained Senate Commando, his underestimation of Cad Bane's abilities ultimately cost him his life.^[2] Despite being prepared for a fight if necessary, he and his guards were taken by surprise by Bane and his accomplices.^[6]

Equipment

Jayfon was equipped with standard blue Senate Commando armor. He also had a blue helmet which included a faceplate with a dark visor. Jayfon had an enlarged left pauldron, decorated with the symbol of the Galactic Senate.^[2] The captain was armed with a DC-15 blaster.^[6]

Behind the scenes

Captain Jayfon first appeared in "Hostage Crisis," the first season finale of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series, which aired on March 20, 2009.^[3] His name was revealed in the 2009 reference book The Art of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The book also revealed Jayfon and his commandos were inspired by the Praetorian Guards of Ancient Rome. As a result, Jayfon's paint scheme was a mixture of Roman décor and Star Wars graphics. Concept art of Jayfon was created by Kilian Plunkett and Russell G. Chong.^[4]

Captain Jayfon was voiced by Tom Kane, who also voices Jedi Master Yoda^[7] and Admiral Wullf Yularen in the series.^[8] Jayfon also appeared in the non-canonical 2011 video game LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars as a non-playable character in the "Hostage Crisis" level. After completing the level, he was available for purchase as "Senate Commando (Captain)" for use in the game's Free Play mode.^[9]
