"Put up your hands."
"I got business with the Senate. How 'bout you fellas step aside?"
―Jayfon and Cad Bane — 20?cb=20250116042720 ▶️ (file info)[1]

Jayfon was a male individual who served as a captain in the Senate Guard of the Galactic Republic. During the Clone Wars, Jayfon and his Senate Commandos were attacked by Duros bounty hunter Cad Bane and his group of mercenaries in the raid of the Republic Executive Building on Coruscant in 21 BBY.

After Bane landed at the Executive Building's restricted landing platform without permission, Jayfon and a squad of guards ordered Bane to surrender. When Jayfon ordered one of their subordinates to handcuff Bane, the bounty hunter Aurra Sing opened fire on the guards. Bane himself attacked Jayfon, snapping the captain's neck and killing him. The rest of the guards were also eliminated.

Biography

Jayfon was a male who by 21 BBY,[1] had obtained the rank of Captain while serving in the Senate Commandos of the Galactic Republic's Senate Guard. After the Hutt crime lord Ziro Desilijic Tiure was arrested by the Republic for his participation in a plot to seize control of the criminal empire of his nephew, Jabba Desilijic Tiure, [5] the bounty hunter Cad Bane was hired to free Ziro from the Republic Judiciary Central Detention Center on Coruscant. Along with a team of hunters, Bane set down on a restricted landing platform of Coruscant's Republic Executive Building without permission in order to capture senators and force Supreme Chancellor Palpatine to release Ziro.[6]

As Bane disembarked his vehicle, Jayfon and several other Senate Commandos confronted the bounty hunter, and the captain ordered Bane to surrender. After Bane replied that he had business with the Galactic Senate and ordered the guards to step aside, Jayfon told the bounty hunter to drop to his knees, and one of the guards was sent to handcuff Bane.[6]

However, the bounty hunter Aurra Sing opened fire on the guards with her sniper rifle, and Bane attacked the captain—although Jayfon and his men had been prepared for a fight, they were taken by surprise. Pressing the guard against a vehicle, Bane grabbed Jayfon's head and snapped his neck, killing him. The other Senate Commandos were dispatched by the other bounty hunters, and Bane ordered the BX-series droid commandos of his team to put on the uniforms of the deceased soldiers to make it look as though the commandos were still at their post.[6]

Personality and traits

A no-nonsense individual, Jayfon[4] was a well-trained Senate Commando, his underestimation of Cad Bane's abilities ultimately cost him his life. Despite being prepared for a fight, he and his guards were taken by surprise by Bane and his accomplices.[6]

Equipment

Captain Jayfon wore the standard blue Senate Commando armor, with specialized white markings reaching from his helmet to his feet.[6] He had a white crest-like ridge on his helmet, as a nod to the Senate Guard's traditional double plume. The crest of Jayfon's helmet was taller than his subordinates' crests, to quickly identify the captain. Jayfon had an enlarged pauldron on his left shoulder, that when he was firing, acted as a shield.[2]

Behind the scenes

Captain Jayfon first appeared in "Hostage Crisis," the first season finale of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series, which aired on March 20, 2009.[4] His name was originally revealed in the now Legends 2009 concept art book The Art of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The book also revealed Jayfon and his commandos were inspired by the Ancient Romans' Praetorian Guards. Concept art of Jayfon was created by Russell G. Chong and Kilian Plunkett. The paint scheme on the captain's armor was a mix of Roman décor as well as Star Wars graphics.[7] In the current canon, Jayfon's name was confirmed in Weapons & Uniforms section of Star Wars Helmet Collection 30.[2] The character was voiced by Tom Kane, who also voiced Jedi Master Yoda[8] and Admiral Wullf Yularen in the series.[9]
