Jabba's Palace garage, also referred to as the sail barge hangar, was a hangar located underneath Jabba's Palace on the desert planet of Tatooine. The garage held Jabba's luxury sail barge, the modified LO-KD57 Khetanna, as well as a number of Bantha-II cargo skiffs. After Jabba's death, the hangar held the Slave I, until it was recovered by Boba Fett and Fennec Shand.
Description and layout
The garage underneath Jabba's Palace was where he housed his luxury sail barge Khetanna
The sail barge hangar was located underneath Jabba's Palace. Its primary access to the outside was a large hangar door, just outside of which were numerous junk piles made up of scrap metal. The main hangar was surrounded by a series of hallways and small rooms housing an assortment of amenities for the palace.[1] Above the hangar was a small watch tower, and a roadway located adjacent to the garage was circuitous to the city of Mos Eisley and provided an up-ramp for swoops housed in the garage. The floor of the hangar itself was made of polished stone, and on the ceiling was a ventilator. In addition to housing the Khetanna, the garage served as a space for Jabba's many Bantha-II cargo skiffs and smaller vehicles to be stored, as well as the location of numerous workshops and animal pens.[2]
History
Construction
At some point after acquiring the former B'omarr monastery from the bandit Alkhara and transforming it into his palace, Jabba hired architect Derren Flet to modify the palace to suit his needs. This included the construction of the hangar to house Jabba's luxury sail barge Khetanna, which Flet had commissioned from Ubrikkian Industries. Flet met his end when designing the palace dungeons, as he was executed by the Hutt for failing to deliver adequate holding for Jabba's many prisoners.[2]
Under Bib Fortuna
By 9 ABY,[4] Boba Fett was believed dead at the skirmish at the Great Pit of Carkoon. His ship, Slave I, was kept in the hanger at the palace, now under the control of Bib Fortuna. Eventually, Fett and his new partner Fennec Shand infiltrated the palace and retrieved his ship.[5]
Under Boba Fett
Fett later retrieved his armor and attacked the palace. He killed Fortuna and took over the palace,[6] becoming the Daimyo of Mos Espa.[7] Fennec Shand later recruited Din Djarin to serve as muscle in their war against the Pyke Syndicate. Djarin arrived at the garage and landed with his N-1 starfighter. He was greeted by a Gamorrean guard and informed him that his presence was requested by Fennec Shand. Djarin joined a meeting with Fett's forces, and later left the hangar and traveled to Freetown to recruit Marshal Cobb Vanth.[3]
