Izizian monkeys were a type of creature native to[1] the Inner Rim[2] jungle planet Onderon.[1] The creature shared its name with Iziz, Onderon's capital city.[2] In 231 BBY,[3] when Onderon received a sky-island with a replication of its environment for the Valo Republic Fair, fair organizers led by Coordinator Samera Ra-oon avoided stocking the sky-island with more dangerous creatures, opting for a few monkeys and birds as they did not want any of their visitors killed or eaten. When Ra-oon told Jedi Master Elzar Mann about the jungle safaris that would be offered on the Onderon island, she mentioned the presence of the Izizian monkeys.[1]

Behind the scenes

Izizian monkeys were mentioned in the 2021 novel The High Republic: The Rising Storm, written by Cavan Scott[1] for the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase I.[4]
