Ithorian cactus was a type of cactus that shared its name with the Ithorian species,[1] who were native to the planet Ithor.[2] The cactus had scale flakes that were edible by humans and Iktotchi.[1] In 228 BBY,[3] the humans Jordanna Sparkburn and Sylvestri Yarrow invited Jedi Master Mirro Lox and his Padawan Amadeo Azzazzo to a meal at a canteen on the Republic Defense Coalition mobile launch and repair station. During their meal, the Iktotchi Pop Teeno served the group fried pom-cakes with spider seed and scale flakes from Ithorian cactuses. Teeno told them that he had recently learned the "funny little scale flakes" added a delicate flavor and went well with the fluff of the cake.[1]

Behind the scenes

Ithorian cactuses appeared in the young-adult novel The High Republic: Defy the Storm, written by Tessa Gratton and Justina Ireland and published in 2024 as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase III.[4] Within the novel, Ithorian cactuses appeared within a chapter written by Gratton.[5]

Meanwhile, the events of "Tales from the Occlusion Zone: No Big Deal" include the Stormwall's expansion and also depict the start of Pikka Adren's pregnancy. A later story, "Tales from the Occlusion Zone: Sparks Fly," states that Adren is eight months pregnant during its events, indicating that it is set eight months after "No Big Deal," and therefore one year, eight months, and two weeks after the fall of Starlight Beacon. "Sparks Fly" is set during the Battle of Eriadu, an event that begins in The High Republic Adventures Phase III - The Wedding Spectacular.
