Incense was any substance that was used to produce a fragrant and pleasant odor when it was burned. Certain types of incense favored meditation, which is why the Jedi[1] and Sith alike sometimes used them.[2] Species as diverse as the Wookiees, Yuuzhan Vong,[3] Sullustans, and Mon Calamari all used incense.[4] To the olfactory system of Humans, Gran incense smelled like burning thicklube.[1]

Incense was burnt by shopkeepers and residents of Barons Hed on Sulon in order to cover the odor of urine and vomit permeating the alleys of the Low Town.[5]
