"Your Emperor needs you. Your courage. Your skill. Several of our most capable pilot recruiters have been dispatched to educate and inform all citizens of the galaxy who have the mettle to fly for the Empire."
Admiral Cilas Veckon[1]

Imperial Navy Recruitment was the recruitment organization of the Space Navy of the Galactic Empire.

History

"It is a dark time for those who cleave to the pillar principles of the Empire. Without heroic intervention by citizen pilots such as you, this horrid 'rebellion' could prove to be the final undoing of our civilization, our liberty... our very lives. Hired killers have taken aim against the selfless agents of our government, and have threatened to plunge us head-long into anarchy. Moreover, sensing their despicable opportunities in this 'rebellion,' vast armies of corrupt criminal pirates, smugglers, and assassins have banded together to further tear the fabric of Imperial decency."
―Admiral Cilas Veckon[1]

During the Galactic Civil War, the Imperial Navy Recruitment office was tasked with recruitment of volunteers to join the Imperial Navy in the fight against the Rebel Alliance.[1]

As the war intensified after the Battle of Yavin, Admiral Cilas Veckon, the Chief of Imperial Navy Recruitment, initiated a large recruitment program of pilots for the Imperial Starfighter Corps. His staff identified skilled spacers throughout the galaxy and sent strongly worded recruitment messages to potential recruits.[1] Despite the notorious Imperial anti-alien policy, all species were invited to join the program.[2] Admiral Veckon then placed Commanders Gunham, Zhanks and Landau on Tatooine, Corellia and Naboo, respectively, to oversee major pushes in recruitment.[1] The recruitment program culminated[4] in 1 ABY,[5] resulting in a new batch of pilots joining Black Epsilon, Storm Squadron and the Imperial Inquisition's squadron.[4] Although the Imperial Navy recruitment program was a success, the Rebellion and neutral factions soon initiated similar programs that were also very successful.[3]

  5. The opening crawl of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided dates the game to after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and additionally, Serji-X Arrogantus, who died in Star Wars (1977) 10—the events of which The New Essential Chronology dates to 0 ABY—appears in the game. Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
