Huk was the home planet of the Yam'rii species, also known as the Huk (a Kaleesh slur translating as "soulless bug"). The planet was mostly covered with dense forests.

History

The Yam'rii were in a constant state of war with the Kaleesh people of the neighboring planet, Kalee. The period, later known as the Huk War, lasted for many years prior to the Clone Wars and the Great Jedi Purge and resulted in the devastation of much of the planet's surface.

During the conflict, the Kaleesh were led by Qymaen jai Sheelal, who later became the infamous Supreme Commander of the Droid Armies of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. These campaigns gained him notoriety, as he was able to defeat every army sent against him and even exterminated entire Huk planets.

The Yam'rii would call upon the Galactic Republic, a democratic union of sovereign planets for help, who sided with the Yam'rii. The Jedi Order was sent to Kalee to bring peace, and was able to stymie Qymaen' efforts to claim total victory. The Republic blamed the Kaleesh for the war, likely due to their history of oppression, and imposed an embargo and harsh sanctions on the Kaleesh, yet this still did not garner enough sympathy for the Separatists to convince Qymaen to join their cause. The Confederacy was forced to arrange for a bomb to be placed aboard Qymaen's shuttle, which maimed him horribly. Combined with planted evidence that pointed toward the Republic as the source of the attack, this event finally swayed Qymaen to the Confederacy's side, and he agreed to lead their army, following his recovery from his transformation into the cyborg General Grievous.

Huk withdrew from the galactic stage for decades following the end of the Huk War. Their next period of major involvement with galactic affairs did not begin until 36 ABY, when Huk was one of the planets threatened by a possible Killik coup during the Swarm War.
