- "Those holo-drops? This mockery of Emperor Palpatine? You must have seen them. How could you not? It's scandalous."
- ―Eedy Karn
Holo-drops were a holographic broadcasting medium used for purposes such as communication and political commentary in places such as[1] the Core Worlds planet[2] Coruscant.[1]
In 3 BBY, during the Galactic Empire's whispering campaign against[1] the Colonies planet[2] Ghorman, Coruscant resident and Imperial supporter Eedy Karn lamented the Ghormans for reportedly taking to highly-publicized holo-drops to ridicule Galactic Emperor Sheev Palpatine, an attitude[1] she[3] characterized as "scandalous." On the other hand, her son, the Division Chief of the Imperial Bureau of Standards field office on Ghorman Syril Karn rejected it as mere Imperial propaganda, amidst the deeper concern that[1] his[2] mother had been watching too much Imperial News.[1]
Behind the scenes
Holo-drops were mentioned in "Ever Been to Ghorman?," the fourth episode in the second season of the Disney+ live-action series Star Wars: Andor,[1] which was released on April 29, 2025.[4]
