- "A flechette? Those are hard to come by!"
"I know!" - ―Boba Fett and Hat Lo
Hat Lo was a Human crime lord based on the planet Coruscant.
Biography
Hat Lo, a Human[1] male,[2] was an up-and-coming[4] crime lord[5] and spice lord[6] who had his own criminal empire. He operated from the planet[7] Coruscant following the Battle of Naboo[5] in 32 BBY.[8] Known for his overblown opinion of himself, Lo encouraged the idea that he had a vast criminal network on Coruscant[9] and believed he was the most powerful out of all the gangsters on Coruscant at the time. In reality, he was just a lackey[5] and errand boy for wealthy and powerful Hutt gangsters. The Hutts grew annoyed with Lo,[2] one of which was very annoyed by reports of his bragging.[9] The man kept a screen of protectors around whenever possible, however.[2] The Twi'lek assassin Ayy Vida was, unwillingly,[10] a long working[11] enslaved[12] consort for Lo. She would have fled from him, had it not been for her fear of Tas Kee, Lo's enforcer.[11]
During a cold and rainy night on Coruscant, Lo and his hangers-on walked into the Outlander Club,[13] a nightclub and gambling hall[14] managed by the Baath brothers[15] in the Uscru Entertainment District,[14] after seeing the warm and welcoming glow of the neon lights and a hostess's smile. Either wittingly or unwittingly, his patronizing of the club brought with him many criminals.[13] Lo's slythmongers,[6] hustlers of pharmaceutical supplies,[16] lurked at the club selling the deadly drugs death sticks.[6] The medical student Elan Sel'Sabagno sold medical supplies[4] and equipment stolen from his university to the crime lord for credits that helped him with his student life. He then moved to stealing valuable drug supplies, before becoming one of Lo's slythmongers.[6]
During a night[17] in 22 BBY,[18] the criminal Magaloof stole an airspeeder and presented it to an associate of Lo's, becoming a member of his gang.[19] That same night,[20] Lo visited the Outlander Club when the bounty hunter Zam Wesell was being interrogated by the Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker. He availed himself of the private bar of the Baath brothers, while he did so, Vida entertained clients of his near the club's bar.[15] Shortly after the club visit, Lo traveled among refugees on[17] the Jendirian Valley, an AA-9 Coruscant frieghter,[21] when it departed[17] Westport on Coruscant.[22] During the journey to the[17] planet[15] Naboo, he sat near Skywalker and Senator Padmé Amidala.[17]
Equipment
While at the Outlander Club[15] and while on the Jendirian Valley,[17] Lo wore a floor-length light blue robe with a large collar that covered his mouth.[23]
