Han's heavy blaster pistol was a modified BlasTech Industries DL-44 heavy blaster pistol.[1] Solo modified the weapon, adding a scope with integrated motion sensor software and computer-enhanced low-light sighting. The weapon's galven circuitry was improved, allowing the blaster to fire more powerful blaster bolts without draining additional power.[2] However, the weapon was mainly effective at short range, and only carried enough energy for twenty-five shots.[1] The weapon was kept in a quickdraw holster at Solo's hip, giving the smuggler an edge when speed counted.[2]
