- "We are to rendezvous back at the Senate building."
"What? No, no, no, no; the Outer Rim, not the Senate you stupid machine!" - ―HELIOS-3D and Ziro the Hutt
HELIOS-3D was an IG-86 sentinel droid who operated with the bounty hunter Cad Bane.[6]
Biography
3D escorting Senator Free Taa
HELIOS-3D[8] worked for Ziro the Hutt's criminal organization.[7] HELIOS-3D was present when Ziro was discussing their conspiracy against Jabba Desilijic Tiure. Upon another IG-86 droid discovering Padmé Amidala eavesdropping on the conversation, HELIOS grabbed Amidala, escorting her to the dungeon with a party of battle droids. Upon arriving in the dungeon, Padmé was able to manipulate the accompanying Battle Droids to activate Padmé's holocommunicator, alerting C-3PO and the Republic to her location. HELIOS brought Padmé to Ziro for her deception, with Ziro deciding to kill her. However, they were interupted by a raid by Fox and a squad of shock troopers. As the Clones engaged the Battle droids, Padmé took advantage of the chaos and kicked HELIOS-3D in the back of his leg, knockng him to the ground, and stole his E-5 blaster rifle, destroying him by repeatedly shooting him in the head.[1]
HELIOS-3D was eventually repaired and served as a member of the Duro Bounty hunter Cad Bane's team when they went to liberate the captive Ziro from Galactic Republic imprisonment. HELIOS-3D had the role of driving a getaway speeder once Ziro was freed, as part of a prisoner exchange deal engineered by Bane using one of the senators he had taken hostage, the representative of Ryloth, Orn Free Taa. Once Ziro was free, HELIOS-3D took him to the planned rendezvous at the Senate Building, a report that Ziro disliked, wanting to be taken away to the Outer Rim Territories instead.[9]
Despite Ziro's disagreement, HELIOS-3D met back up with the rest of Bane's team, and with their mission complete, they all escaped.[6]
