The Great Tree,[3] also known as the Big Tree, was a particular tree in Bright Tree Village that was sacred to the Ewoks, a species of diminutive sentients native to the Endor Moon. It was situated in a holy place in the forest, and the Ewoks believed that they all descended from it.[1] The Bright Tree temple was built into the Great Tree, and was the site of the wedding of Han Solo and Leia Organa.[2]
Behind the scenes
The Big Tree was first mentioned in the reference book Star Wars: Geektionary: The Galaxy from A - Z, which was authored by Thibaud Villanova and Patrice Girod,[1] and published by Hachette Livre on November 15, 2017.[4] The tree was then identified as Great Tree in the 2022 non-canonical video game LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which was developed by TT Games.[5]
