Great Schism referred to at least two events in the history of the Jedi Order. Many ancient heritage tapestries depicting the first two Great Schisms of the Jedi Order remained within the Chamber of Antiquities, the lower levels of the Great Jedi Library on Ossus.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Great Schisms were first mentioned in the current canon in Nexus of Power, a 2016 sourcebook published by Fantasy Flight Games for the Star Wars: Force and Destiny roleplaying game.[1] In the Star Wars Legends, the phrase "Great Schism" was introduced with the First Great Schism in the comic book Tales of the Jedi – The Golden Age of the Sith 0, written by Kevin J. Anderson, penciled by Dario Carrasco, Jr., and published by Dark Horse Comics[2] on July 31, 1996.[3] The 2005 reference book The New Essential Chronology established that the Second Great Schism was followed by the Hundred-Year Darkness.[4] Since then, the Hundred-Year Darkness has also been mentioned in the current canon,[5] but no connection between it and any Great Schism has been established.
