The Great InQuestors of Judgment was a secret division of Judgment in the Pentastar Alignment, formed as a breakaway faction of the Imperial Inquisitorius following the Galactic Empire's defeat at the Battle of Endor. A known rank in the Great InQuestors of Judgement was the Zenithal InQuestor of Judgement.
History
Following the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY, the Dark Jedi Jerec, High Inquisitor Halmere and other Inquisitors joined Ardus Kaine's Imperial faction and became the Pentastar Aligment's Great InQuestors. This organization served as the principal tool of maintaining the Pentastar Alignment's mandates. They wore long black cloaks and oversized hoods that hid their faces. They were accompanied by their own personal cadre of Protectorate troopers who not only sought out miscreants and lawbreakers for cross examination, but also served as the InQuestor's personal bodyguards.
The arrival of a Great InQuestor to a system or world struck fear in all nearby inhabitants. They interdicted all hyperspace travel in and out of the system while their investigations rooted out deception, crime, and treachery. InQuestors had authority to seize property without writ or warrants, and conducted interrogation sessions aboard Imperial dungeon ships. Their practice of using fear and confession to gain access to traitors were compared to ancient witch hunts and mass trials. Rumors of their public punishments and executions were subject to strong protest by the New Republic.
After Jerec's death, Halmere took up the position of Zenithal InQuestor of Judgement. Whether this title was previously held by Jerec prior to his death is unknown.
