The Ginmids[2] were a sentient species.[1] They were bipedal with two five-fingered hands, light green skin, and a flattened nose with prominent nostrils. At some point prior to the outbreak of the First Order-Resistance War[2] in 34 ABY,[3] the Ginmid Tommet Sozach was the commander of a mercenary army[2] composed exclusively of Ginmids.[1] After the galaxy entered a prolonged period of peace,[2] the army was disbanded[1] and Sozach struck out on his own, making a living as a crowd-pleasing trick shooter.[2]

By 35 ABY,[4] Sozach—who had by then become a personal defense instructor sentenced to death after[2] a fatal accident in a marksmanship show that he had been putting on[1]—occasionally felt remorse over giving up the leadership of the Ginmid army,[2] most of whose soldiers had become retired.[1] At one point that year,[4] Sozach was present at the Spice Runners' Den in Kijimi City on[5] the Mid Rim Territories planet Kijimi.[2]

Behind the scenes

The Ginmid species first appeared in[5] the 2019 sequel trilogy film Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker,[6] where the Ginmid Tommet Sozach was portrayed by Phill Woodfine.[7] The creature design for Sozach was done by Jake Lunt Davies,[8] and costume concept artist Calum Alexander Watt created a piece of concept art of the character.[9] The species was identified by name in the film's accompanying reference book Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary by Pablo Hidalgo.[2]

Can't say I recall seeing this species in anything else?)
