The Ghostfinder fleet was a fleet that fought against the larger Sith armada and managed to outmatch them long before the Galactic Civil War between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance.[1] In 5 ABY,[2] during the battle between the naval forces of the Galactic Empire at Jakku and the larger Defense Fleet of the New Republic, Fleet Admiral Gial Ackbar of the Republic remembered when smaller and lesser forces outmatched their enemies, and thought of the Ghostfinder fleet against the Sith armada, as well as the Mandalorians against the Galactic Republic.[1]

Behind the scenes

"…on Twitter as ghostfinder. Which is actually Star Wars canon. You can look it up on Wookieepedia. You'll find the entry for ghostfinder. Which means I'm also stuck with it like I can't change it. I chose that username cause someone already had adamchristopher. And then I was like 'Oh I'm really sick of this.' But then it became Star Wars canon and so I can't change it. So that's fine. And I'm on Instagram as adamchristopherwriter which is far less interesting name, which will definitely never make it to Wookieepedia."
―Adam Christopher[3]

The Ghostfinder fleet was first mentioned in the 2017 novel Aftermath: Empire's End, which was authored by Chuck Wendig and was the final installment of Star Wars: The Aftermath Trilogy.[1] The Ghostfinder fleet was named after author Adam Christopher, who uses the Twitter username "Ghostfinder."[4] After the fleet entered Star Wars canon, Christopher began to dislike his Twitter username, but also did not want to change it because it had already been canonized and received an entry on Wookieepedia, a free-to-edit, unofficial online Star Wars encyclopedia.[3]
