Gate 9 was a location within the Imperial Senate Building on Coruscant that had a turbolift which led up to the Galactic Senate Chamber. Senator Mon Mothma and Cassian Andor used Gate 9 during Mothma's escape from the Senate following her speech denouncing the Galactic Empire for Ghorman Massacre.
Description
Located in the Imperial Senate Building on Coruscant, Gate 9 consisted of a lounge with seating on either side of a central ceiling mounted viewscreen which showed a broadcast from the Galactic Senate Chamber. Opposite the entrance to the lounge was a turbolift which led up to the hallway that ringed the Senate Chamber and allowed senators to enter their respective repulsorpods.[1]

In 2 BBY, Senior Senator Mon Mothma began a speech denouncing the Ghorman Massacre on the floor of the senate. Before she began her speech, Senator Bail Organa, an rebel ally of hers informed her that a team of his would be ready at Gate 9 to extract her from the senate and delivery her to the rebel base on Yavin 4 after she finishes her speech. On that day Gate 9's turobolift was guarded by a single Senate Security officer who checked that individuals had the appropriate scandocs to use the turbolift. As Mothma began her speech, Cassian Andor, a member of a different rebel group also allied to Mothma, used the credentials of Mothma's aid Erskin Semaj to gain access to the turbolift where he would wait to escort Mothma himself.
As Mothma spoke, journalists and other individuals in the Gate 9 lounge watched via the viewscreen including Semaj and two members of three person extraction team. One of the members, Beska was in fact an undercover Imperial Security Bureau agent who had bludgeoned the missing third agent. Following the speech, Andor joined Mothma in the turbolift back down to Gate 9. As they exited the lift, a crowd of reports surrounded Mothma trying to get a comment. As Mothma made her way through the crowd, Beska drew and aimed her blaster on Mothma claiming to be making an ISB authorized arrest. Semaj provided a distraction by call Beska a rebel spy which gave Andor the chance to draw his blaster and shoot Beska. After picking up Beska's blaster, Semaj used it to cover Mothma and Andor's escape before he too leaves the senate building.[1]

Gate 9 appeared in the ninth episode of the second season of the live-action Disney+ series Star Wars: Andor[1] which aired on May 6, 2025.[2]
