FrictionGrip was a special coating manufactured and patented by Ayelixe/Krongbing Textiles. It was composed of thousands of micro­scopic filaments designed to grip surfaces in a manner similar to arachnids. The coating was used on Ayelixe/Krongbing's Climbsuit, a special suit designed for climbing,[1] and on their mountaineer armor.[2]

Behind the scenes

FrictionGrip was first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in Cyphers and Masks,[1] a 2018 sourcebook for the Star Wars: Age of Rebellion roleplaying game published by Fantasy Flight Games.[3] It originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity where it was first mentioned in Rules of Engagement: The Rebel SpecForce Handbook, a 1997 sourcebook for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game, written by Timothy S. O'Brien and published by West End Games.[4]
