The Freelance Mercenary Corps were a new group of mercenaries at the time of the three-year galactic Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and Confederacy of Independent Systems. Emerging specifically to serve the Confederacy,[2] the Freelance Corps was hired by Magistrate Passel Argente of the Corporate Alliance to fight for the Confederacy as part of the Corporate Alliance Policy Administration Directorate.[1]

Behind the scenes

The Freelance Mercenary Corps was first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in Rise of the Separatists, a 2019 supplement to Fantasy Flight Games' series of Star Wars Roleplaying products.[1] It was originally created for the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was first mentioned in the 2008 short story MedStar: Intermezzo, which was written by Michael Reaves and Steve Perry and published in Star Wars Insider 83.[3]
