A franikhad was a delicacy that was found on nearly every desert planet throughout the galaxy. Local meats, vegetables, and spices would be cooked in a makeshift oven dug into the ground, which was designed to take advantage of the planet's heat and lack of water. After being cooked, the ingredients would be served in a thin, makeshift bread-like wrap. Specific variations of the franikhad existed depending on the planet's own meats and culture.[1]
A vendor on the Tatooine city of Mos Espa sold franikhads, a ground oven right next to her stall. Anakin Skywalker remembered the exact steps to get to her stall, and would get a franikhad as a "bonus" indulgence if his mother, Shmi Skywalker, had managed to get extra parts for bartering. Franikhads could also be found on Coruscant; Republic Senator Padmé Amidala was told about them by Senator Bail Prestor Organa, and purchased some to eat alongside then-Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker after they reminded her of him.[1]
Behind the scenes
Franikhads appeared in the 2022 novel Brotherhood, written by Mike Chen.[1] The author named the dish after Fran, a deceased "foodie" cat of his, and the khad, a style of pit oven used by desert cultures.[2]

Fran = our late foodie cat that loved to steal meat. Khad = a pit oven often used by dessert cultures. I saw this years ago when my wife was watching a Gordon Ramsay show." (original link is obsolete)
