Founder's Day was a holiday on which celebrants would dine on a type of bird[1] and hang colored lanterns.[2] An Imperial officer on the planet Akiva grinned as though he had been granted first bite of the bird on Founder's day when he cornered the bounty hunter Jas Emari, the ex-loyalty officer Sinjir Rath Velus and the junk dealer Temmin Wexley in an alley shortly before the Rebellion on Akiva.[1]
The Graf family had Founder's Day lanterns aboard their starship[2] the Whisper Bird around 18 BBY.[3] Milo Graf used the lanterns after the ship crashed on an ice moon.[2]
Behind the scenes
Founder's Day was first mentioned in the Star Wars Legends novel Lando Calrissian and the Flamewind of Oseon, which was written by L. Neil Smith and released in 1983. The holiday was canonized when it was mentioned in Aftermath, a novel written by Chuck Wendig and released in 2015.
