Forum:WPWeb:Citation template upgrades

Description

The plan is upgrade all citation templates, with aim of standardizing them as much as possible.

The following tables list them by category and detail the upgrade progress per the following columns:

• Domain: "www" part of a URL is called a "sub-domain" and therefore these template parameters should be named |subdomain=. ".com" part of a URL is called a "top level domain" and therefore these template parameters should be named |tld=.
• Tl: Archive Access: new standard template {{ArchiveAccess}} for providing archive links has been added to the citation template.
• Doc split: if all documentation has been split into a separate /doc page using the {{Documentation}} template.
• |archivefile=:
  • Tl: Old img param: citation template uses an exisitng parameter for screenshots/images, where archive links are not possible. This is mostly social media templates.
  • Tl: archivefile: citation template has been updated with the new archivefile parameter.
  • Doc: archivefile: new archivefile usage detailed in the citation template's /doc page.
  • Bot: archivefile: existng citation templates with image/file/screenshot parameter need a bot run to update to the new archivefile parameter. Mostly social media templates.
  • Tl: Remove img param: For citation templates that were using an exisiting image/file/screenshot parameter, once all the above has been actioned (including bot run), then the any reference to these old parameters can be removed from the template code.
• Para: documentation uses {{Para}} to describe the template parameters.

• |date=:
  • Tl: Old dateposted param: citation template uses an exisitng parameter for posted dates. This is mostly social media templates.
  • Tl: date: citation template has been updated with the new archivefile parameter.
  • Doc: date: new date usage has been detailed in the citation template's /doc page.
  • Bot: date: existing citation templates with dateposted parameter need a bot run to update to the new date parameter. Mostly social media templates.
