Wookieepedia:What adminship is not (talk - history - links - logs - delete - protect)

Spent a bit longer mulling over this one compared to the Wookieepedia:Advice for new administrators. I think it's certainly possible to toss a few lines on WP:A sometime with a few good points, but it was brought up that this one, too, was also made by a sole admin in 2008 who was then blocked a year later. And in its current state, if it were revamped, it would end up so different and likely merged into a different page that it's really better to take out the trash wholesale imo.

Tldr; also has a lot of stuff about not deleting or protecting pages at-will or blocking users randomly. But I'll note that (soon to be revamped) deletion policy, protection policy, and blocking policy all outline what admins can and can't do very strictly with parameters, so there isn't really the room for abuse there was in 2008 without any such rules. We should honestly start working anything we need to have about admin behavior within actual policy pages as we have been without such essays. And then, while a lot of stuff about the way to treat others is factually correct, it too falls under civility and general basic decency, and none of this advice helped the site 2008—2021 anyway.—spookywillowwtalk 17:16, 7 March 2024 (UTC)
