Weather seasons

Nothing in these articles indicate any difference to the real thing. Most of them simply contain "season is one of four seasons in a year".

  1. We've gone through this exercise so many times now, I sort of can't even believe anyone is still attempting to delete articles with the "in-universe uniqueness" argument. This argument has become so lame that people have practically stopped voting on TCs like this. But since this persists, I'm going to repeat the same thing I've said on every single one of these votes: Although I agree that Wookieepedia is not a dictionary, I don't believe that's a catch-all phrase to justify deleting everything and anything that has a corresponding real-world dictionary definition. The fact that something in-universe can be defined exactly as its real-world counterpart is irrelevant. The only time that argument ever really holds water is if the article is explicitly about a word, like this. We are indeed an encyclopedia, and the merits of hosting any one article should be judged not strictly on something as limited as a dictionary definition, but rather whether a subject is worth documenting as a Star Wars encyclopedia, such as this, which means many items with equivalent real-world definitions will by necessity exist here. Generally speaking, if something exists in Star Wars across multiple sources and can be documented with text more detailed than a strict one-line definition, I believe it lies in our best interest to do so. There is nothing wrong with having "parent" articles like Soldier or Museum that collect and document in one place the many variations of these things in canon. Categories are far too limited in their functionality to rely on those alone to serve this purpose. Something like yearly seasons exist in so many variations, that we're actually doing ourselves and our readers a disservice by not documenting the fact that their real-world counterparts exist in-universe as well. I sincerely hope this long-winded spiel will finally put an end to future attempts to delete articles on the notion of "in-universe uniqueness" without first fully considering the value of the article existing, but rest assured, nominators, I shall be prepared with another diatribe if not.
