No official recognition. YouTube hits are not verifiably fan recognition due to the diversity of YouTube viewers. No recognition in mainstream media. I could CSD this legitimately, but I've decided to be more democratic, mainly because I want to gauge the Wookieepedian reaction to this kind of garbage. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 21:00, October 8, 2010 (UTC)

- I think we need to begin steps toward making a decision once and for all whether we want to be an all in-universe wiki with information about associated real-world individuals or a wiki that includes everything related to Star Wars, including fan films and projects. The interpretations of WP:NFP is becoming far too blurred. — Fiolli 19:50, October 10, 2010 (UTC)

Discussion
Deleting all fan film articles is a bit too drastic, especially for one TC. The notability policy allows for fan films to be on Wookieepedia so long as they meet the policy. If users want that to change, shouldn't that require a CT instead of a TC? - Brandon Rhea (talk) 21:22, October 8, 2010 (UTC)
- And out come the lawyers, like sharks drawn to blood. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 21:26, October 8, 2010 (UTC)
- As I just said on IRC, my comment was a question for a reason. The question was answered on IRC, though, so it no longer stands. - Brandon Rhea

- For the curiosity of others, TC forums are just as much bound by the site's Consensus policy as are CTs. Please familiarize yourself with our Consensus policy if you wish to participate in these types of forums. Toprawa and Ralltiir 21:32, October 8, 2010 (UTC)
- Just want to say, if deleting this is best for the wiki, I'll accept it. However, there is one thing I want to argue. Culator says that YouTube views aren't proof of notability. Couldn't one argue that YouTube views are the only reason that Ryan vs. Dorkman and Essence of the Force are on the Wook? I mean, I love both of those films, but I think the reason they were added is because of their view counts. Just sayin'. --Darth Praxus- Stover Lover 23:09, October 8, 2010 (UTC)
- The latter of those won an official award so it ought to stay in future. The first one, well, that could probably go as well. NAYAYEN 23:14, October 8, 2010 (UTC)
- RvD (well, actually RvD2) also won an official award ("Best Visual Effects" at the 2008 Official Star Wars Fan Film Awards) and thus should stay as well. Master Jonathan

- As I just said on IRC, my comment was a question for a reason. The question was answered on IRC, though, so it no longer stands. - Brandon Rhea
- Just as a note of question, as Brandon said, if the motion to delete all fan films now and forever passes, that won't have any bearing on the specific wording of WP:NFP, correct? Aren't TC's exclusively for deleting articles, not rewording policy? And before the accusations and reprimands come, let it be known that I'm not actually against this proposal, just curious about it, and that this isn't lawyering, it's a question that doesn't seem to be specifically addressed by WP:CON. Darth Trayus(Trayus Academy) 08:17, October 9, 2010 (UTC)
- As a note, especially to Culator: I voted to only delete the one article based upon the fact that I believe deleting all in one TC is just improper. That said, based upon my comment in my vote, if the community decides to go a certain direction and compelling arguments are made, I'd be willing to go for no fan projects. I just need to be convinced one way or the other, as I'm quite undecided. — Fiolli 20:39, October 10, 2010 (UTC)
- I mainly wanted to gauge the community's mood about this, as I said in the initial deletion comment. I'd have been very surprised if this got a sufficient number of participants and was sufficiently one-sided to cause a mass extinction of fanfilm articles. Pleasantly surprised, certainly, but definitely very surprised. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 13:07, October 11, 2010 (UTC)
