Template:Merchandise (talk - history - links - logs - delete - protect)
Template is used to mark articles for possible movement to the Merchandise Wiki, but action never gets taken. Example-- Star Wars Folded Flyers tagged since 2012, no action taken whatsoever to move it off here and onto this merchandise wiki. I can understand the desire not to have stuff like Laser Rifle Carry Case, but the template is also being applied to a lot of books, many of which are similar to other books we have which have nice articles and aren't tagged. - On a side-note, I'd also be interested in a clarification on what exactly is considered "merchandise" and therefore possibly eligible for this template. For example, is The Star Wars Poster Book something that would fall under that category? ProfessorTofty (talk) 18:17, September 29, 2014 (UTC)
- We don't have an "official definition" of what constitutes merchandise, but basically, it's anything that isn't designed to have any narrative, canonical value. It's something we judge on a case-by-case basis. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 20:07, October 1, 2014 (UTC)
- Okay. Well, I had a couple of particular products in mind that happened to be poster books. I think I'll just take a gamble then and add them... ProfessorTofty (talk) 16:47, October 2, 2014 (UTC)
- I might suggesting popping by IRC and running it by the peanut gallery to see what people have to say in general. That will give you a pretty good idea whether something should be TC'd or not. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 18:36, October 2, 2014 (UTC)

- It's a perfectly valid template, but people just haven't noticed the category in a while. I'll export them this afternoon. Cade

- That's fair enough. Perfectly willing to withdraw the nomination then if pages start being moved to there. Not something I'm interested in doing myself, though, as I'm more of an inclusionist and I feel having some of those pages here is actually worthwhile. - Per Cade, though I'll note that only an administrator on the Merchandise Wiki itself can actually complete the process by importing the articles to that wiki, and all five former admins there have been inactive for a long time, which is why these articles have been sitting around forever. Someone adopted the wiki back in April, and Cade has asked that user to import the articles, so hopefully we can finally get these exported. —MJ— Council Chambers 06:30, September 30, 2014 (UTC)
- I see that most of the articles have now been moved. Nomination withdrawn, as promised. Whatever now needs to be done to archive this can be done.
- P.S. I would still be interested in a clarification regarding what I said above. Are poster books something that might be considered merchandise and eligible to be tagged with this? ProfessorTofty (talk) 17:11, October 1, 2014 (UTC)
- Noting here that we don't have a defined procedure for closing TC votes early outside of clearly nonsense nominations, so I'm opting to let this vote run its course and establish whatever precedent it may. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 20:07, October 1, 2014 (UTC)
