Riveting gun (talk - history - links - logs - delete - protect)
This is another example of a dictionary article that is the same in Star Wars as in real life, presumably. This is likely why most of the text was taken from Wikipedia, and not Lando Calrissian and the Flamewind of Oseon, which does not actually go into detail describing a riveting gun or riveter unique to the GFFA.

I would also support the TC of screwdriver and saw, and despite Tope's comment below, a riveting gun has the same use IU as it does OOU (connecting 2 pieces of metal together) and, unless a source has a riveting gun used for something strange (eg attaching cybernetics to bone), then it is still a WP:DICT article... - This is not a dictionary article in the sense that luggage, posse, or rookie is, and I will remind us for the umpteenth time that real-life parallelism is not an automatic condition for deletion. While the article's current Wikipedia-extrapolated description is bogus, the riveting gun nonetheless holds a utilitarian application as an in-universe tool for starship maintenance, as the source explains, and we should dedicate an article to covering this information, no matter how limited it may be. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 23:12, May 22, 2015 (UTC)
- The source doesn't specifically describe this purpose though, only that he had a riveting gun in his hand and he hit it against the airlock wheel. We can assume that he was applying a rivet to the wheel because it was loose or wasn't working properly, and we may be right, but the source doesn't say that that was what he was doing. The riveting gun may not even have been intended for use on starships, and could have been something Lando had equipped with the suit from a mining operation, to fix Vuffi Raa (sturdy droid), or some other purpose entirely. Trip391 (talk) 01:02, May 23, 2015 (UTC)
- The text is actually quite explicit. Lando is working on the Falcon's shielding system in this scene: "He moved the micropole another centimeter to the right, waited for the robot's confirmation, and riveted it in place. He didn't understand why the Falcon's previous operators hadn't done this long ago." Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 01:18, May 23, 2015 (UTC)
- Does it actually mention a rivet gun, or is that the extent of it? Manoof (talk) 10:41, May 23, 2015 (UTC)
- Of course it mentions a riveting gun. I wouldn't be arguing for this if it didn't. From that same aforementioned passage later on: "Suddenly, he glanced at the riveting gun in his hand and at the airlock wheel..." Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 19:36, May 23, 2015 (UTC)

- I've been thinking about this one for a bit, and I have to agree. Keep, and preferably improve. ProfessorTofty (talk) 02:54, May 23, 2015 (UTC)
- Because of the use of it in relation to a micropole, which definitely not OOU. Manoof (talk) 01:36, May 24, 2015 (UTC)
