This page is an archive of the discussion about the proposed deletion of the article below. This page is no longer live. Further comments should be made on the article's talk page or, if the page was deleted, in the Senate Hall rather than here so that this page is preserved as an historic record. The result of the debate was Move to Eric Przybylski. Toprawa and Ralltiir 19:33, January 31, 2010 (UTC)
Nav-Computer.com (talk - history - links - logs)
Once upon a time, Wookieepedia agreed by consensus to use the fan-made maps created by Nav-Computer.com as legitimate article content, a decision that was roundly overturned a year and a half later, for obvious reasons. Not only is Nav-Computer.com no longer used by Wookieepedia for any purpose, the Web site itself evidently hasn't been in existence since 2006, judging by the article's talk page, thus failing Wookieepedia's Notability guidelines for fan projects.
A proposal to delete this article and by doing so remove it from the list of Wookieepedia's so-called Reliable sources. Toprawa and Ralltiir 07:48, January 16, 2010 (UTC)
Delete

- IMO, if the site does not exist, such procedure should be automatic, no vote is required. MauserComlink 08:05, January 16, 2010 (UTC)
- Simply following past procedure for deletion of article coupled with removal from WP:RS, which probably deserves more than unilateral action. Toprawa and Ralltiir 08:07, January 16, 2010 (UTC)
Keep
- Keep and move to Eric Przybylski. While the site is no longer extant, his groundbreaking work on Star Wars cartography continues to have a lasting impact, as evidenced by his mention in the acknowledgments in The Essential Atlas. Remove from Wookieepedia:Reliable sources, though; clearly, a site that no longer exists doesn't belong on that page. (In fact, we've moved past the need for that page altogether now; it probably ought also be Tc'd.) jSarek 09:15, January 16, 2010 (UTC)

- Agree with jSarek: there was substantial content at one point, and Przybylski's work was officially acknowledged. —Silly Dan (talk) 14:59, January 16, 2010 (UTC)
- Wait, just because some TFN users received acknowledges in the Atlas as well, they should now get their own articles? MauserComlink 16:24, January 16, 2010 (UTC)
- In all fairness, several of our most prominent Wookieepedians, including myself, are noted in the Atlas as having helped with the project in some way, shape, or form. But this guy's praise is clearly different. But that being said, in response to Dan, our Notability guidelines state that a fan project must have substantial content, as in present tense. I would be inclined to strictly interpret that exactly as it reads, which would discount projects no longer in existence. Toprawa and Ralltiir 22:11, January 16, 2010 (UTC)

- jSarek's point is good. Xd1358 Talk 16:51, January 16, 2010 (UTC)
- Fair enough. I was unaware of his mention in the Atlas, which specifically notes that his contributions helped shape canon cartography as we know it today. I wouldn't mind just killing "Nav-Computer.com" as a redirect, but moving the info to Eric Przybylski will suffice. Toprawa and Ralltiir 22:04, January 16, 2010 (UTC)
