House Palpatine massacre (talk - history - links - logs)
I'm nominating this for deletion because it sort of...baffles me. This wasn't an "event" per se. Sure, it happened, but it was a domestic dispute that ended in multiple homicide. At best, you could say it was a scuffle, but scuffles don't really deserve articles, do they? For those of you who haven't read DP, Palpatine isn't a Sith yet, so it isn't a mission or official duty. He gets mad and kills his family. It's not an event with "commanders" and "strength" and all that. All of this can be rolled into character articles and the House Palpatine article. And if we have this, why don't we have one for the Murder of Owen and Beru Lars, or the Murder of Padmé Amdiala? We might as well have an article for every time someone kills someone else.

- Seriously, just look at the infobox. Combatants: Palpatine; Commanders: Palpatine; Strength: Palpatine. Darth Trayus(Trayus Academy) 21:07, May 28, 2012 (UTC)

- Oh, an anon created this one instead of just amending the House Palpatine article where it belonged? Colour me shocked. — DigiFluid(Whine here) 14:17, May 29, 2012 (UTC)

- I actually have to disagree here. Think in-universe. This event was the slaughtering of a prominent Naboo house, which makes it a notable event in its own right. Simply because the information can be placed in the House Palatine article does not make this unneeded. Information in the article for any skirmish in any war and any election to any office could be placed as part of the war or office's article with this rationale. Really, deleting this would be akin to having an article on Kitty Genovese and saying we don't need a specific article on the murder of Kitty Genovese. NaruHina Talk

- Besides both those links going to the same article–Kitty Genovese differs in that that one event is what makes her name notable. House Palpatine is a notable subject in and of itself, and this falls under that header. This is an event in the history of House Palpatine, its place is in the House Palpatine article. — DigiFluid(Whine here) 18:25, May 29, 2012 (UTC)
- I was rushing to the bus when I picked Kitty. /shrug I'd still say that applying that argument says that any aspect of a war would be "an event in the history of [that war], its place is in the [Insert War Here] article." House Palpatine is a very important Naboo house and the killing of all its members is a notable event. Furthermore, rushing, I didn't have time to say to Cade's argument: I'm not saying it's a battle: it's an event, which is hidden by the choice of using the Battle infobox in lieu of one without a casualties field. That field isn't really necessary anyway. Either way, if it was the battle it's infobox implies, that the victims were unarmed does not make it any less of a fight. NaruHina Talk

- Per Naru. It's not a battle, but its a notable enough event.--Exiled Jedi

The Massacre on the Star-Wake article appears to be based on a similar premise, so, depending upon the outcome of this TC thread, we may want to consider nominating that for deletion as well. --Jinzler 21:20, May 28, 2012 (UTC)
