Clone guard (talk - history - links - logs - delete - protect)
From my point of view, the identification of "clone guard" from the Getty page seems to be incredibly vague/nonspecific. Given the existence of clones since 2002 I would even wager an assumption that it's not even a unique term to these specific clones. One could argue the Elite Squad Troopers in TBB were all normal humans, but we don't have an explicit source stating that A. all of them were human and B. the ones in TBB were the only ones. We just know that Crosshair's specific Elite Squad were the first conscripts.
As for their appearance, I've compared the armor between the ESTs and "clone guards" extensively, and aside from the different-colored jumpsuit (which may even just be a lighting quirk), the armor between the two is identical when it comes to design. The armor color, the stripes on the pauldrons and helmets, and the dark green visor are all there. The biggest difference aside from the aforementioned jumpsuit is that the "clone guards" use the same clone trooper model as the one from Tales of the Jedi, rather than the Bad Batch model like the ESTs do. Given the clones in TotJ aren't meant to represent a different armor type or group, I do not see why the "clone guards" in TotE would represent a different one either.
That being said, given the prevalance of the "clone guards" term at this point, I'd say at least having it as a redirect to the EST page would be valid. But as it stands I do not see any reason to assume they are a different group/type.

- A subject is notable when sufficient information comes out to establish notability; a subject isn't presumed notable until a release shows them not to be. Precedent established by the opposite view invites rampant speculation. Asithol (talk) 22:13, 15 April 2024 (UTC)

- Eh, I'd rather wait until Tales of the Empire comes out. We don't know much about them now, so it's entirely possible the show establishes something that would need a distinct "Clone guard" article. If the show releases and there's nothing special about these guys, then I'd support a redirect. Rsand 30 (talk) 23:50, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
- On one hand, I dislike the practice of jumping on every crumbs of preview before media release, because it can lead to assumption, but I also must admit that it helps to document properly preview documentation. Now, the subject is mention in the description "Barriss Offee (center) and Clone guards in a scene from "STAR WARS: TALES OF THE EMPIRE", exclusively on Disney+. © 2024 Lucasfilm Ltd. & ™. All Rights Reserved." and in tags/keywords/subjects as "Clone guards", which seems highly intentional to me. NanoLuukeCloning Facility 11:15, 11 April 2024 (UTC)
- Per Rsand. While I definitely think we should be more patient in creating articles based off previews, if someone WP:BOLDs it, I'd rather wait for full info release to make a decision. NBDani

Hey, it's me! 12:35, 11 April 2024 (UTC) - Best not to assume that they're Elite Squad Troopers at this point. OOM 224 (he/him) 12:55, 11 April 2024 (UTC)
- I doubt they are actually a different group, but waiting is still the best option. Wok142 (talk) 18:52, 11 April 2024 (UTC)

- Per NanoLuuke, I made this article due to identification as a subject, specifically the description mentioning "Clone guard" and the media tag. I also disagree with the sentiment that creating this article was me being impatient. What is so impatient about documenting all available notable information? That makes me a bit upset, if I can speak frankly. --Vitus InfinitusTalk 03:28, 16 April 2024 (UTC)
- Per Dani; previews are (sometimes) intentionally crafted to be misleading and such, just due to wanting to keep things a suprise. Does mean we can interpret things wrong sometimes though.—spookywillowwtalk 04:47, 16 April 2024 (UTC)
- It may turn out to be a placeholder name or an informal description, but since the only info we have is that they're specifically identified as clone guards and not ES troopers, I don't see harm in waiting until proven otherwise. Zed42 (talk) 05:34, 16 April 2024 (UTC)
