Category:Exotic sentient species ([[Talk:Category:Exotic_sentient_species|talk]] - history - links - logs)
Much of the species categorization is broken, but this is one of the worst subcats. Just because these species don't fit in the other subcats of Category:Sentient species by biology doesn't mean they are "exotic" (a term invented by the user who made the category). A lot of the whole "species by biology" is poorly categorized, anyway. It seems to have been an attempt at classifying every species as fitting into one of its categories, even when there's no canon evidence for it. The whole thing needs to be revisited, but we can start by removing some of the worst crap. --Imperialles 06:30, May 1, 2010 (UTC)

- "This category is for sentient species that do not fall under other categories." Really? How about "This TC page for categories that are epic fails." — Fiolli {Alpheridies University ComNet} 18:26, May 1, 2010 (UTC)

- There's no grounds for this to be a category. Havac 07:46, May 2, 2010 (UTC)
- Honestly... what would really define "exotic"? It's too opinion-based. One person's exotic may be another's commonplace. Trak Nar Ramble on 07:54, May 2, 2010 (UTC)

- Per below, this isn't a user-created term but a source created one. It should probably be trimmed to only include the "exotics" listed in the book, however. SinisterSamurai 22:13, May 5, 2010 (UTC)
Discussion
- The "exotic" categorization probably originates in the index for Alien Encounters, rather than being pure invention. —Silly Dan (talk) 13:34, May 2, 2010 (UTC)
- Alien Encounters does use the term "Exotics" in its index. All species in the book are placed in a category there based on biology, and Exotics is merely where those who don't fit into any other category are placed. It's not an IU term or anything, it's just "these are somewhat different." --Imperialles 18:48, May 2, 2010 (UTC)
