Assassination on Coruscant (talk - history - links - logs)

- I don't understand why you think this is "Fanwankery" It is a canon event and I think it should be up. (Admiral jolyon 20:28, 26 April 2008 (UTC))
- For that matter Goodwood, the word "Fanwank" is not in my dictionary. (Admiral jolyon 20:35, 26 April 2008 (UTC))
- Please relax, Jolyon. This isn't personal. This just isn't the kind of article we typically create. Toprawa and Ralltiir 20:37, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
- I'm not angry at all Toprawa and Ralltiir. I've learned from wookieepedians such as Vaklu that bad attitudes get you exiled. The reason why "Fanwank" is not in my dictionary is because I've never heard it before. That's all. And, no offence intended, you've edit conflicted me, twice in-fact. (Admiral jolyon 20:43, 26 April 2008 (UTC))
- I think it should be called "Assassination attampt" then because it was an attempt to kill Padme for her opposittion to future war. That to me "is" an assassination. (Admiral jolyon 20:43, 26 April 2008 (UTC))
- I think it this way. "What would happen if the assassination had been successful?". It would certainly change the course of Star Wars: History. (Admiral jolyon 20:48, 26 April 2008 (UTC))
- Look. If you think this article is rubbish then how about this: An article called Assassination. I know we have article called Assassin but to me "Assassin" is a person who kills individuals of political influence and "Assassination" is the appropriate definiition. How about that? (Admiral jolyon 20:58, 26 April 2008 (UTC))

- A decision please, I was waiting for a response. (Admiral jolyon 21:15, 26 April 2008 (UTC))

- That is why I suggessted the article Assassination to resolve this dispute so that everybody's happy. (Admiral jolyon 22:08, 26 April 2008 (UTC))

Political assassination attempts are a totally different beast from random incidents, and I've yet to see an actual good argument against having this. Havac 21:17, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
- For that matter Goodwood, the word "Fanwank" is not in my dictionary. (Admiral jolyon 20:35, 26 April 2008 (UTC))
- Per Havac. Also, rename the article to more accurate, since it was an attempt. Greyman

- First of all, please sign your name or your vote will be struck. Second, it's fanwank because its...fanwank. It's like having an article about the Han-Greedo shooting, calling it "Shootout at Chalmun's Cantina" or something.--Goodwood

- First of all, there was no assassination, so the page would need to be moved regardless. We used to have an article about Luke Skywalker's dinner on Tatooine, too. :P Toprawa and Ralltiir 20:32, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
- It's an assassination attempt. If we had articles for all the times someone tried to kill someone else, we'd be as big as Wikipedia. -- AdmirableAckbar (Talk) 20:33, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
- Comment Would that be undesirable?... We have an article on hands (the body parts I mean)... plus, I said it once and I'll say it again... we have an article for the Sith coup on Roan Fel.--Gonzalo84 16:32, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
- This article has no knock-on effects or consequences. Nothing happened as a result. There were no huge plans to make it happen that affected anyone of wookieepedia relevence in any way. So it's pointless. Darth Xadún 20:43, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
Merge
- Merge with Attack on Senator Amidala if we're keeping that. —Silly Dan (talk) 21:30, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

- Agreed. Wilhelm screamer 20:24, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
- Merge per Silly Dan. In response to Havac's real world example, I would think that if Hinckley had eluded capture and attempted to kill Reagan in his hospital bed again that night, his attempts wouldn't be two different encyclopedia articles. jSarek 07:47, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- As per Dan (or at least change it to Assassination attempt on Coruscant. KEJ 12:09, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- I agree. One article detailing Zam being hired by Jango, the bungled starship hit, the meeting with Jango, the subsequent bedroom hit, the speeder chase and the outcome (and Zam's demise). Yes, it was a failed attempt (and yes, it's all just basically a McGuffin) but it is rather major and sets most of Episode II moving (barely, but still). Brandon Peat 12:18, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- A merge is perfectly acceptable. Havac 16:25, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
