'ABY-BBY' dating system (talk - history - links - logs - delete - protect)
(I would appreciate info from Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon 61, that would clarifiy this, as I don't own the magazine). I think they are the same thing per Star Wars Jedi Master Magazine 1, which states "It [the Battle of Yavin] is used as the current "year zero" in the current Galactic Calendar: BBY stands for "Before the Battle of Yavin" and ABY stands for "After the Battle of Yavin". Therefore, I believe that 'ABY-BBY' dating system should be merged with Galactic standard calendar.

- I, for one, don't think they should be merged. There's a difference between the "calendar" (who many days, weeks, months in a year, and so on) and the dating system (which is determined by an epoch, a point in time beginning a new or distinctive period). "Build the Millennium Falcon #61" is clear enough about it. It describes the standard calendar in great detail, and then has a separate paragraph where different dating systems are mentioned (mostly ABY-BBY, but also Lothal Year in passing).
