I floated this earlier in the month with Toprawa and Ralltiir and he agreed that some updating should likely be done, but since no action had yet been taken, I figure he probably wants to get some input from a wider audience first. Currently our Wookieepedia:What Wookieepedia is not contains a number of references to "Wikia," which as of about a week ago I think at least is no longer the name being used anywhere on the site for the company we are hosted by. Yes, we are now "Fandom." Most particularly, we have an entire section which states that "Wookieepedia is not Wikia." Obviously, I would propose that any references to "Wikia" be changed to "Fandom." (And any links to Wikia pages be updated to the appropriate pages.) Given that this really a simple wording change rather than any actual change of substance or policy, I would think this really wouldn't even require a Consensus Track, but if anyone else feels differently, feel free to weigh in. - I agree with all your points and would add only that, instead of erasing "Wikia" from the page altogether, an early reference to Fandom should say "(formerly Wikia)" or some such, just to avoid confusion since
starwars.wikia.comURLs continue to work and will likely do so for the foreseeable future. Asithol (talk) 03:51, February 8, 2019 (UTC)- I agree - that makes total sense and will also be good for anyone familiar with the old name. We could even link the "formerly Wikia" text to one of the explanation pages regarding the change-over. ProfessorTofty (talk) 20:19, February 8, 2019 (UTC)
